Psychotherapist
Amber is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with 10 years of direct clinical
experience in the areas of: life transitions, relationship difficulties, depression,
anxiety, grief & loss, and past trauma concerns. The focus of her practice is the
creation of a sacred and open space where adolescents and adults can move
towards positive life shifts, heal from past traumas, process current life difficulties
and restore balance within their lives. She enjoys working with adolescents and
adults as they navigate new life experiences and stages.
She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of
Georgia and was a member of the women’s soccer team. She went on to pursue her
masters at the University of Texas at Austin and earned her degree in social work.
Her specialty areas of interest include working with athletes as well as women in
their journey to and through motherhood.
She helps athletes to understand the connection between mental and physical
health, process injuries and utilize mindfulness techniques to enhance performance.
For athletes that are currently embarking on the journey through the college
recruitment process, she provides a space and support to make a knowledgeable
and intentional college choice. For women within any space on their path to or
through motherhood, she is here to be your witness. She works with women
struggling to conceive, postpartum stress and depression, survivors of traumatic
birth, and mothers adjusting to their current life stage.
Her treatment methods are tailored to each individual’s specific needs through use
of a combination of models including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). She received her MBSR training at the
Atlanta Mindfulness Institute in 2014. She uses these strategies to help clients bring
awareness to the constant chatter of the mind and challenge unhelpful thought
patterns by integrating an accepting and non-judgmental stance through use of
mindfulness based techniques. These methods not only foster an awareness of those patterns, which often leave individuals paralyzed, but also provide tangible skills to help people learn new ways to manage stress and anxiety.
