Dr. Sanchez received her Bachelor of Arts in Music and her Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Texas Pan-American (currently UTRGV) in Edinburg, Texas. She received a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. For over eighteen years, she has worked as an educator, school counselor and therapist in the public-school setting. Dr. Sanchez is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, a Registered Play Therapist and utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Sandplay in her clinical work. She also is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. She has been nominated twice for the Metlife Lifechanger of the Year Award and recently, she was selected by the National Board of Certified Counselors as a Doctoral Minority Fellowship recipient.
Loretta believes in creating a partnership with individuals to utilize personal strengths to help them sort out their challenges and accomplish personal goals. She also realizes the importance of identifying all aspects of an individual’s life that impact well-being including physical health, systems of support (family, friends, etc.), work or school environment, and faith/spirituality in this process.
